Event Description: Please join us on September 27th at Dan's Tavern on the Green at the North Kingstown Golf Club as Russ Maymon moderates a panel representing a variety of perspectives on this critical and timely issue. An optional tour of a nearby solar array will follow the panel discussion. In just the past five years, clean, renewable solar energy has grown exponentially in Rhode Island and nationally to a degree that could not have been previously imagined. The solar energy infrastructure has arrived, and it is way ahead of schedule! As importantly, it is only going to continue growing in the years ahead, as the dream of a clean, renewable energy future increasingly becomes a permanent and full reality. Yet despite this cause for profound optimism, issues have emerged and remain unresolved. Land use decisions, public participation in processes leading to these decisions, and mechanisms for dispute mediation are among the dynamics of solar development in 2018. How can developers and other stakeholders best work with communities in which solar development is under discussion or in planning.
