Event Description:
Please join REI on Thursday, August 15th at the North Farm Yacht Club for our annual summer celebration as we welcome Jeff Lord and Mark Nelson from the Clean Energy Collective to review the flourishing Community Solar market, look at where it is headed and how Rhode Islanders can benefit from this unique source of renewable energy. Many American households and businesses do not have access to solar because they rent, live in multi-tenant buildings, have roofs that are unable to host a solar system, or experience some other mitigating factor. Community solar refers to local solar facilities shared by multiple community subscribers who receive credit on their electricity bills for their share of the power produced. It provides homeowners, renters, and businesses equal access to the economic and environmental benefits of solar energy generation regardless of the physical attributes or ownership of their home or business. This is of particular interest to low-to-moderate income customers and builds a stronger, distributed, and more resilient electric grid. We invite everyone to stay, network and celebrate summer with us and hear the exciting things that are taking place within REI including our newly designed website, the newsletter initiative, sponsorship opportunities, and new membership structure.
