This free workshop, presented by Attorney Daniel Holmander, an intellectual property expert and member of the local SCORE team, is designed to help entrepreneurs and small business owners understand the nuances of trademark law and their practical impact on business. This easy-to-understand overview presentation covers:
• What trademarks are and are not, and why you should care about them 
• Benefits of registering a trademark at the state or federal level
• Guidance on selecting your trademark 
• Proper use of your trademark
• Strategies for policing and protecting your trademark - and not infringing others’ trademarks
• Obligations of a trademark owner
• Q & A

Plus, attendees will have the opportunity, after the presentation, to work with Attorney Holmander and Kristen Cordeiro, Deputy Director of Business Services at the RI Department of State, to file their own application(s) for state trademark registration. Each person registering for the workshop will receive an email with detailed information about preparing for that opportunity.
