Event Description: Veteran Business Ownership - Paths to Success

As a part of National Veterans Small Business Week 2019, the U.S. Small Business Administration is excited to present this unique event that will allow you to learn from and engage with local veteran-owned small businesses. There will be a panel discussion with local award winning veteran-owned small businesses during which they will share their experiences, tips and insights in small business ownership. Come hear the what it’s really like to start and run a small business in Rhode Island, and get the opportunity to ask fellow veterans any questions you’d like about their path to successful business ownership here in Rhode Island. After the panel, we will continue with an informative session about how to get your business VA Verified, taught by the experts at the Rhode Island Procurement Technical Assistance Center (RI PTAC). If you are an existing veteran-owned small business and want to the opportunity to do work for the VA, you must complete the VA Verification process in order to start gaining access to the hundreds of millions of dollars in contracts the VA awards every year. We will conclude with a session about one of the most popular forms of business ownership for veterans, franchising. With thousands of options out there, there are numerous ways to find a business that suits your skills and lifestyle. Our experts in the SBA District Office will help guide you through the world of franchising, the pros and cons, ways to ensure you have the proper financing to get started, and resources to guide you along the way!
