 * Deaf Awareness Week Kick-off *
 The Rhode Island Commission on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (RICDHH) and  Rhode Island School for the Deaf (RISD) invite you to attend a Deaf  Awareness Week kick-off at the Rhode Island School for the Deaf, One  Corliss  Park, Providence, RI.  This event is sponsored by RISD and RICDHH.  For more information about Rhode Island School for the Deaf : www.rideaf.net

 * RI Deaf Senior Citizens' Craft Fair *
 The RI Deaf Senior Citizens (RIDSC) is hosting its Craft Fair at 529  Plainfield Street , Providence , RI .  There will be popcorn, games, table booths and exhibits so please bring children and friends!  The admission  is  free and for more information, contact Ray Niford at 508-915-3400.  This  event is sponsored by RIDSC.

 interpreters provided) *   ASL/Deaf Studies at the Center for Language Studies invites you to attend its Deaf Deaf World and Deaf Panelists Discussion (at 2pm) to see what it  feels like to be in a hearing minority.  The event will be held in Hillel  House, Social Hall, 80 Brown Street , Brown University Campus, Providence.    RI .   This event is sponsored by Brown University ASL Program.

 The Ocean State Center for Independent Living (OSCIL) and Saylesville Fire  Department are providing an educational training about fire safety and  free  smoke detector program.  The location is to be announced.  This event is sponsored by OSCIL and Saylesville Fire Department.

 The pizza dinner and ASL movie "Black Sand" will be held at the Rhode  Island  School for the Deaf, One Corliss Park, Providence, RI.  This event is sponsored by Rhode Island Association of the Deaf, Alumni Association of Rhode Island School for the Deaf and Purple.

 Movie "Black Sand" Synopsis: Four students descend upon a tropical rain  forest resort in Costa Rica with the purpose of having an adventure for a vacation at an aunt's place. Beautiful waterfalls and lush green jungles  are  the first sign of heaven but there's also a darker side to paradise. The
 four are warned not to venture outside after dark. Something from the  jungle  is stalking the vacationers. Whatever it is, is it protecting a secret or  is  it something so unspeakable?  Rated PG-13, 90 min. and subtitles  available.  Website: www.aslunderground.com/blacksand

 * Corliss 3rd Annual 5K Walk to support Independent Living for Deaf Adults
 with Developmental Disabilities *
